Google Expands AI-Powered Features Deep Research and Gems to More Workspace Plans
Google has expanded access to its AI-powered features, DeepSeek and Gemini, within the Gemini app. The rollout began on March 13, 2025, for Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, with users expected to see the changes within a few days.
Previously unavailable to certain Google Workspace plans, these features are now accessible to users in Business Starter, Enterprise Starter, Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus, as well as Frontline Starter and Standard, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Essentials Plus, and Nonprofits.
DeepSeek enables users to generate real-time research reports by browsing the web and analyzing information efficiently. Gemini, on the other hand, function as customizable AI assistants that help users achieve specific goals and tasks, with pre-made options like 'Sales pitch ideator', 'Copy creator', 'Learning coach', and 'Sentiment analyzer'.
The full rollout of these features began on March 13, 2025, for Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, with visibility expected within one to three days. Google has expanded the availability of DeepSeek and Gemini within the Gemini app to additional Google Workspace customers. These features are available by default in the Gemini app, with no admin controls required, but file uploads from Google Drive in Gemini require Workspace extensions to be enabled by administrators. Gemini can be linked to Google Docs and Google Sheets via Google Drive for more relevant responses.
With the expansion of DeepSeek and Gemini, Google aims to enhance productivity and efficiency for a broader range of users. The features are now available to more Google Workspace customers, allowing them to leverage AI for tasks such as generating research reports and customizable AI assistance.
