Google Sheets Introduces YEAR Function for Easy Date Manipulation
Google Sheets users can now easily extract the year from dates, thanks to the newly introduced YEAR function. This feature allows for better data organization and trend tracking over time.
The YEAR function, now available in Google Sheets, simplifies date manipulation. It converts a given date into its numeric year value. For instance, '12/31/2022' becomes 2022. This function supports various date formats, including text dates like 'Dec 31, 2022'.
To use the YEAR function, simply enter '=YEAR(date)' in a cell, replacing 'date' with the cell reference or a date. For example, '=YEAR(A2)' will extract the year from the date in cell A2. The YEAR function can also be combined with other functions for more complex calculations.
