The Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite, following complex instructions and system prompts more reliably, produces shorter and more precise answers. It also shows better performance at a higher response speed with lower token usage in the Artificial Analysis Index. Pricing for the Lite model starts at $0.10 per 1M input tokens for Text/Bild/Video and $0.30 for Audio, with output tokens at $0.40 per 1M.
The larger Gemini 2.5 Flash model has demonstrated a five percentage point improvement on the SWE-Bench Verified Benchmark, jumping from 48.9 to 54 percent. It works more efficiently, handles multimedia better, and tackles more complex tasks. Pricing for the Flash model starts at $0.30 per 1M input tokens for Text/Bild/Video and $1.00 for Audio, with output tokens, including 'thinking tokens', at $2.50 per 1M.
Google is introducing an alias system for easier use of the latest models, with new identifiers always pointing to the latest version. They advise users relying on stable conditions to continue using fixed-named models.
Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash and Flash Lite models are now more reliable, efficient, and affordable. With improved multimodality and performance, these models are available for testing using specific model IDs in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. Users should note the pricing changes and consider the alias system for future updates.
