Google's Search Console Update Redefines Organic Performance

Google has recently updated its Search Console, affecting how organic performance data is displayed. The changes aim to better reflect human behaviour and reduce bot influence.

Previously, adding '&num=100' to the search result URL showed 100 listings. However, Google has discontinued support for this parameter. SEO platforms like Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Sistrix have announced updates to integrate these changes, offering the possibility to track URL positioning across more than two pages.

The update has led to most websites experiencing increases in average positions and decreases in the number of impressions. This is due to Google's move to restrict AI bots performing 'fan-out' searches, making the data more human-centric. The Performance section in Search Console is advised to be monitored for stability.

While the future of SEO rank tracking remains uncertain, with potential increased costs and reduced results, Google's move aims to provide a more accurate representation of organic performance. It is recommended to monitor organic performance as reported by Search Console and consider SEO platforms that integrate with these changes for better tracking.
