Government of Namibia Strengthens Digital Transmission of Broadcasts through Acquisition of New OB Van

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in Namibia has taken a significant step towards modernizing public communications infrastructure with the acquisition of a new High-Definition (HD) Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van.

The HD OB Van, officially handed over by the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), is equipped with modern broadcasting technology that enables seamless live broadcasts from various locations across the country. This development marks a substantial investment of N$4 million, financed directly by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, and procured through a transparent public bidding process.

Dr. Audrin Mathe, MICT's Executive Director, emphasized the strategic importance of the HD OB Van handover, stating that it symbolizes the government's commitment to advancing technological capabilities. The new van is anticipated to significantly improve the technical quality of live event coverage, ensuring high-quality, reliable information services for live events and remote broadcasts in Namibia.
