Scattered Spider previously targeted telecom companies, initiating SIM swap scams, yet expanded tactics by moving onto ransomware and data theft extortions in early 2023. Resulting in a broader range of industries impacted, Scattered Spider has been a frequent recurring threat to businesses worldwide. Google's blog post lends clarity to this, stating,
