Hongqi's S9 Supercar: China's Answer to Tesla's Model S Plaid
Hongqi, China's luxury car marque, has opened pre-orders for its latest supercar, the S9. Only 99 units will be produced worldwide. The S9 boasts impressive power and speed, outpacing even Tesla's Model S Plaid.
The Hongqi S9's power has surged by 73.2% compared to its forerunner. It delivers a staggering 485kW of power and 850N-m of torque. Under the hood, a V8TD engine coupled with triple-motor hybrid tech generates over 1,400 horsepower. This power propels the S9 from 0-100km/h in just 1.9 seconds and beyond 400km/h top speed.
The S9's engine features a micronelle high-performance combustion system and 'HOT-V' dual mid-mounted turbochargers. Its design, helmed by renowned Italian designer Walter de Silva, blends classic red with black carbon fiber deflector parts, and a prominent red flag logo stretching from the grille to the windshield.
The Hongqi S9 is now available for pre-order, priced unknown but expected to exceed 10 million yuan ($1.54 million). With its unmatched power and striking red design, the S9 is set to make waves in the global supercar scene.
