Huawei Unveils Powerful Mini Tablet with SIM Support and Wi-Fi 7
Huawei has unveiled its first flagship mini tablet, the MatePad Mini, in Shenzhen. This device stands out with its unique features, including SIM card support for calls and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
The MatePad Mini boasts an impressive 8.8-inch flexible OLED display with a 2.5K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, delivering vivid visuals with peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Powering this device is a 6,400mAh battery that supports 66 W super fast charging, ensuring a quick boost with a 30-minute charge to 60%.
In terms of connectivity, the MatePad Mini offers a significant advantage. It supports SIM cards, allowing users to make phone calls, a feature not commonly found in tablets. Additionally, it is the first tablet to support two-way Beidou satellite messaging. Running on HarmonyOS 5.1, the MatePad Mini is compatible with the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro stylus, offering ultra-low latency writing at 2ms.
The device is designed to be 'super powerful, super mini', combining a thin and lightweight form factor with seamless HarmonyOS integration. It features a 32 MP front-facing camera that supports RAW-quality portrait imaging, perfect for video conferencing and live streaming. Competing in the small-format tablet market, the MatePad Mini goes up against the Xiaomi Pad Mini, Lenovo’s Legion Tab, and Apple's iPad mini.
The Huawei MatePad Mini, priced between RMB 3,299 ($460) and RMB 6,499 ($910) and available in black, white, green, and red, offers a compelling blend of power, connectivity, and portability. With its unique features and competitive pricing, it aims to challenge established players in the small-size tablet market.
