Hyundai Provides Tesla Fuel Adaptors for KONA and IONIQ Vehicle Operators
Hyundai EV Owners in the U.S. Gain Access to Tesla Superchargers
Hyundai electric vehicle (EV) owners in the United States can now enjoy the convenience of charging their vehicles at Tesla's Supercharger network, thanks to a new adapter made available by Hyundai.
Starting the week of April 7, eligible owners who purchased or leased their vehicles on or before January 31, 2025, will receive an email notification about this opportunity. To claim their complimentary adapter, owners must have an active MyHyundai account and opt in to email communications.
The adapter, which enables connection to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers nationwide through the North American Charging Standard (NACS), is compatible with Hyundai KONA Electric, IONIQ Electric hatchback, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6 models. Eligible customers can claim their adapter through their MyHyundai account.
For the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 and future models like the 2026 IONIQ 9, Hyundai has integrated an NACS port directly into the vehicle. This design eliminates the need for any adapter, allowing direct access to over 17,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S.
This move is a significant step in Hyundai's broader strategy to improve EV adoption in the U.S. By integrating NACS compatibility, Hyundai is effectively doubling the fast-charging options available to its customers.
In addition to this initiative, Hyundai is also investing in the IONNA high-speed charging network to enhance public charging infrastructure. Hyundai Motor Canada plans to announce its own strategy for NACS access later this year.
Furthermore, Hyundai is ramping up domestic EV and battery production in Savannah, Georgia, as part of its commitment to the U.S. market. This expansion is expected to create over 8,000 jobs in the region.
For more information, visit Hyundai's official website, which will go live on April 1, 2025, or contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. The adapter will be shipped directly to the registered address, and its terms and conditions must be accepted before shipping.
