In Sochi, a shooter prevented access to approximately 1,800 accounts and levied fines amounting to around 5,500 users.
Heightened Vigilance on Minors Using Personal Mobility Devices in Sochi During Summers
In the approach to the summer season, authorities in the popular resort city of Sochi have amplified their surveillance of minors utilizing personal mobility devices (PMDs). To enforce the rules more effectively, the juvenile affairs department will join regular operations this summer.
The urban landscape of Sochi already accommodates 37 no-ride zones and 47 speed-restricted zones specifically designed for PMDs. Furthermore, it is prohibited for individuals under the age of 14 to operate these devices.
In addition to regular street patrols, PMD rental companies are also taking proactive measures. One company, in particular, has issued more than 5,500 fines and restricted approximately 1,800 accounts for violations since the beginning of the year. Noticeably, a third of the offenders found were teenagers.
Free PMD driving lessons are also available in Sochi, offering an ensemble of theoretical and practical instruction. Students learn about the device's structure, safe riding etiquette, and how to avoid causing inconvenience to other road users or accidents. Lessons are conducted in open city spaces.
Previously reported, drivers of electric scooters in Sochi can face severe penalties, including up to two years in prison.
Sochi's rules and regulations for minors using PMDs may be subject to local ordinances, which could entail additional restrictions on where the devices can be used, speed limits, and specific safety guidelines. As a precaution, it is recommended to consult local government resources or official announcements specific to the region for precise information.
- In an effort to promote safety, authorities are encouraging smart-home-devices companies to develop an age-verification system for PMDs, ensuring gadget-savvy teenagers do not access PMDs unsupervised.
- As the demand for advanced safety features in smart-home-devices continues to rise, there is an increased emphasis on technology that can monitor and control the usage of personal mobility devices, particularly among minors.
