In the realm of Dragon Age, the Veilguard's approach to Arachnophobia mode is simply eliminating spiders entirely.

In an unprecedented shift for the fantasy gaming series, colossal spider-like creatures will no longer pose a threat to players. Instead, multiple obstacles aim to put players in peril.

In the realm of Dragon Age, the Veilguard's approach to Arachnophobia mode is simply eliminating spiders entirely.

In a thrilling twist for arachnophobes like me, the long-running Dragon Age series seems to have turned over a new leaf with their upcoming game, The Veilguard. Gone are the days of gruesome giant spiders that once haunted the Darkspawn-infested caves of the series. That's right, this time around, there won't be a single creepy, eight-legged freak lurking in the shadows.

Although arachnophobia modes have become increasingly common in games, many players, including myself, were taken aback when they realized that The Veilguard wouldn't provide an option to modify or remove spiders. But it turns out that modding might not be necessary anymore. In a post on the Dragon Age subreddit, BioWare community manager Blackhairvioleteyes announced that no arachnophobia mode is required for The Veilguard because, quite simply, there won't be any spiders in the game.

This decision might be met with mixed reactions from fans. On one hand, giant spiders have been a staple in the series for years, providing unique challenges for combat and delivering the piercing, ear-splitting chittering shriek that left many players, including myself, flinching in fear. On the other hand, eliminating spiders opens up the door for more specific encounters and enemy designs tailored to the game's focus on the Darkspawn and the agents of the returned Elven Gods.

So, say farewell to the nerve-wracking anticipation of stumbling upon a cave filled with skittering legs and hello to a new Dragon Age experience without the spider-fueled jump scares we've all come to dread. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to release on October 31.

Meanwhile, keep up with the latest news on upcoming releases for Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, the DC Universe, and everything you need to know about the future of Doctor Who. Happy gaming, arachnophobe or not!
