Increased Development Period Due to Gravity: Lucid Embraces Expansion Phase

Lucid Motors Expands Presence in Europe and Beyond

Lucid Motors, the California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is making significant strides in its global expansion, particularly in Europe. The company, known for its high-performance luxury electric vehicles, has announced several initiatives aimed at broadening its presence on the continent.

The premiere of the Lucid Gravity E-SUV, scheduled for this fall, marks the company's entry into the European market. To support this expansion, Lucid has established a service centre in Munich, Germany, with plans to increase the number of its stationary locations in the country from four to up to 15.

Collaborations with Aston Martin and shuttle provider Uber in the robotaxi sector demonstrate Lucid's ambition to make its technology accessible to third parties. The company is also expanding its role as a technology provider for other manufacturers, further cementing its position in the industry.

Lucid Motors is not limiting its growth to Europe. The company is planning further growth in the Middle East and continues to prioritise North America as a key market for its technology rollout. However, Lucid is currently not entering China due to high barriers to entry and strong local competition.

The company's technology development emphasizes bringing new technologies to market faster than others. Lucid's CEO, Peter Bach, has stated that the focus is on efficiency, aiming to reduce dependence on rare earths through its own platforms, efficient motors, and alternative drive concepts like induction machines.

The company's flexible use of different cell chemistries includes affordable LFP batteries for volume models and high-performance batteries, with sophisticated thermal management completing the claim. This approach allows Lucid to cater to a wider range of customers while maintaining a focus on performance and efficiency.

In addition to the Lucid Gravity E-SUV, the company is also working on three new models for the high-volume crossover and SUV segment, which will be created on a new modular platform. One of these new models, the Lucid Air Sapphire, is currently being tested.

As part of its European expansion, Lucid is introducing digital and mobile service solutions based on the US model. The company aims to expand its network to 50 to 60 so-called touchpoints by the end of 2026, further solidifying its position in the European premium segment.

In strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia, Lucid's production offers favourable trade routes and logistical advantages for Europe. This partnership is a testament to Lucid's commitment to global growth and its pursuit of a broader presence in the premium electric vehicle market.
