In the ever-evolving world of packaging, sustainability has become a top priority for many businesses. This year, several notable advancements have been made in reducing plastic consumption and improving the eco-friendliness of packaging solutions.

Signode, a leading name in the industry, has introduced a new stretch wrapper, the Octopus Prestige. Designed for high-volume operations, this innovative wrapper offers superior load stability and reduced film usage. The Octopus Prestige's enhanced flexibility in applying containment force throughout the wrapping cycle ensures superior load stability, while its new Double-S film carriage system helps cut down on film usage.

Moreover, the Octopus Prestige stretch wrapper seeks to help plants boost throughput and meet demanding delivery schedules due to its high wrapping speed. Its simplified mechanics, featuring fewer sensors and adjustments, also contribute to improved uptime.

Another significant development comes from Zeus Packaging and Noxon, who have combined nano technology films with custom fit pallet wrapping machinery. Zeus unveiled the Apollo Pallet Wrapping System at the start of 2025, designed to reduce plastic consumption by up to 60%. This system, which fits seamlessly into customers' existing operations, includes nano technology films manufactured by Zeus and custom fit pallet wrapping machinery from Noxon.

The Apollo Pallet Wrapping System was not the only innovation introduced by Zeus this year. Top brands are progressing on packaging sustainability in 2025, and Zeus Packaging is no exception. The company also presented the pallet packaging solution Apollo, announcing that it could reduce plastic consumption by up to 60% while significantly lowering companies' time, costs, and carbon footprint.

Ranpak, another industry leader, has integrated PaperWrap's pallet wrapping machines into its portfolio. These machines replace plastic stretch film with a kraft paper alternative from Mondi, furthering the push towards sustainable packaging solutions.

As the focus on sustainability continues to grow, understanding the regulatory landscape is crucial. In 2025, guides on global packaging sustainability regulation and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation are available to help businesses navigate this complex field.

In the supermarket sector, increasing the use of reusable packaging is a key discussion point. As we move forward, it is expected that more businesses will adopt sustainable packaging practices, contributing to a greener future for all.
