Indian semiconductor industry gets a boost with the introduction of ICEA's Semiconductor Leadership Forum, geared toward propelling India's ambitions in semiconductor sector expansion.

The India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) has announced the launch of the ICEA Semiconductor Leadership Forum, a critical industry platform aimed at steering India's long-term semiconductor strategy. The goal is to build Indian champions, deepen semiconductor supply chains, accelerate R&D, and position India as a strategic and indispensable node in the global semiconductor value chain.

The Forum, chaired by Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics, will serve as a trusted industry partner to the Government of India. It will focus on enhancing India's global competitiveness in semiconductor manufacturing and innovation. The aim is to foster strong partnerships and collaborations between product design companies and India's semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.

The ICEA Semiconductor Leadership Forum will work closely with relevant Ministries and agencies to realize policy priorities. It will engage in structured consultations and develop thought leadership. The forum aims to deepen the semiconductor supply chain through investments in capital goods, materials, and packaging.

The Government of India, through the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), has laid a strong foundation for semiconductor manufacturing with policy initiatives. The forum seeks to align national goals with industry capabilities and emerging global opportunities to ensure India’s role as a trusted partner in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

The forum supports scaling manufacturing capabilities, strengthening design, mobilizing capital, and nurturing talent to build a robust semiconductor ecosystem that can sustain enduring global leadership. It complements government initiatives like the India Semiconductor Mission and recent large-scale investments intended to develop a strong electronics manufacturing base, reduce import reliance, and create employment and skill development in the sector.

Mr. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO of ISM, expresses that India's ambition to become a global hub for semiconductors is being realized. Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of ICEA, considers the launch of the ICEA Semiconductor Leadership Forum a critical milestone in India's semiconductor journey.

The objective is to build Indian champions in semiconductor manufacturing, strengthen R&D and innovation-driven growth for long-term resilience, and position India as a key node in the trusted global semiconductor supply chain. The forum will offer timely, evidence-based recommendations for informed policymaking, with the ultimate goal of fostering a robust and competitive semiconductor ecosystem that is globally benchmarked.

The ICEA Semiconductor Leadership Forum, under the leadership of Dr. Randhir Thakur, will collaborate with the Government of India to strengthen India's business competitiveness in semiconductor manufacturing and innovation, with a focus on investing in capital goods, materials, and packaging to deepen the semiconductor supply chain. This forum is part of the broader strategy to establish India as a trusted partner in the global finance and technology industries. Working closely with ministries and agencies, the forum aims to create a robust semiconductor ecosystem that can sustain enduring global leadership, aligning national goals with industry capabilities and emerging global opportunities.
