Updated Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Offers Long-Range Variant for Enhanced Urban Mobility

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, China's most popular electric vehicle (EV), has received an update, and with it comes a long-range version aimed at providing a more competitive edge.

The long-range variant of the Mini EV offers significant enhancements in battery capacity, range, and motor power compared to the base model. Some models feature a larger battery pack around 26.5 kWh, allowing for a NEDC range of more than 300 km. This extended range is a significant improvement over the base model's approximately 170 km range.

The motor power has also been upgraded from a 20 kW motor to a 30 kW motor, with torque up to 110 Nm. This improved powertrain supports a higher top speed and better driving performance.

The updated Mini EV retains its compact form factor, with a length of 2997 mm, a 77 mm increase compared to the current version. The wheelbase has also been extended by 70 mm, to 2010 mm. Despite the extensions, the Mini EV remains focused on urban mobility, offering easy parking and maneuvering.

The long-range Mini EV is also visually distinct, with pictures showing monochrome and duotone paint jobs in black and white, and redesigned front and rear light units. The most noticeable change, however, is the detail of a Game Boy logo emblazoned on the C-pillar, indicating a special edition aimed at a male audience.

The long-range version of the Mini EV is expected to qualify for government incentives up to RMB 16,200 (about €2,000 or $2,500), making it an even more attractive option for urban drivers.
