In the ever-evolving world of technology, Smart Infrastructure Ventures (SIVentures) has announced the launch of its second fund, SIVentures II, with a target volume of €30 million. This venture capital fund is focused on early-stage B2B startups primarily in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

Founded in 2019 by Bjoern Bauermeister, Dirk Frohnert, and Falk Trietsch, SIVentures aims to invest in around 30 companies, with individual initial investments up to €500,000. The fund's investment strategy targets pre-seed and seed-stage deep tech startups specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), software development, enterprise software, infrastructure, and energy tech.

SIVentures II emphasizes active investor involvement, operational guidance, and long-term support to its portfolio companies. This approach has been successful for the fund, as demonstrated by the initial successes of the predecessor fund, SIVentures I.

Notable exits from SIVentures I include the acquisition of the digital health startup Mementor by the US-based company ResMed. Other significant portfolio companies from the first fund are cybersecurity startup Enginsight and customs technology venture Trade AI, which collectively contributed to creating over 300 jobs in Germany.

Over 75% of the target volume for SIVentures II has already been raised, with the capital coming from a mix of companies, banks, family offices, fund-of-funds, and successful individual founders. Since the beginning of 2025, four new investments have been completed by SIVentures II, with more in the pipeline.

The successes of SIVentures II are expected to further demonstrate that risk capital from the new federal states can play a significant role in the nationwide VC ecosystem. The fund's strong partner network, including AOK Plus, Porsche, KPMG, and others, reinforces this commitment to fostering innovation in the DACH region.

SIVentures II is closely linked to the SpinLab Accelerator, a leading startup hub in Europe. Both Bauermeister and Frohnert are active mentors at SpinLab, which has been instrumental in nurturing successful startups like Mementor.

In summary, SIVentures II's investment focus areas, geographic focus, stage and size, strategy, and notable exits show a commitment to fostering innovation in deep tech sectors with demonstrated success from their first fund driving momentum. This strategy positions SIVentures II as a valuable partner for early-stage B2B startups in the DACH region.
