Pantera Capital Boosts Investment in Telegram-Linked Cryptocurrency TON
In a significant move, Pantera Capital, a well-known cryptocurrency investment firm, has announced a substantial investment in the Telegram-linked cryptocurrency, TON. The firm's investment, estimated to be around $250 million, marks the largest investment in the company's 21-year history, as revealed in May [4].
The investment was part of a broader $558 million funding effort, completed in August 2025, associated with Verb Technology's rebranding to TON Strategy Co. (TSC) [1][3]. Other institutional investors such as Kingsway Capital and Blockchain.com also participated in this round [1][3][5].
The funds for this new investment were officially sold in July and were signed on November 27 [2]. The company had announced the fundraising five months earlier, in May, when it was looking for investors to participate in a fundraising for buying more TON tokens [6].
The TON token, one of the best-performing cryptocurrencies in the market this year, saw a resurgence in its price following Trump's victory in November, which triggered the price increase [7]. However, the token pulled back to trade at about $4.70 amid reports in August that Telegram founder Pavel Durov had been detained and arrested in France [8].
The new funding round aims at increasing Pantera's stake in TON. The exact amount Pantera invested in the TON token in May has not been disclosed [3]. The announcement was made on Monday [1]. Notably, Durov has been released on bail [9].
The funds for this investment were filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission [2]. The TON token rose from about $2.34 to trade above $8.00 between March and June [3]. In June, Pantera was seeking a minimum of $250,000 from interested investors [6].
