Kazakhstan to Launch 'Water Base' Digital System for Sustainable Groundwater Management
Kazakhstan is set to introduce a modern digital system, 'Water Base', to manage its underground water resources sustainably. This strategic move is part of a larger modernization process in Kazakh environmental and resource protection policy, supported by the German organization IRZ and GIZ.
The 'Water Base' system, planned within the next few years, will facilitate real-time monitoring, cartographic representation, and systematic analysis of groundwater resources. This digitalization effort aims to increase transparency and reduce bureaucracy in water resource management. The project is part of a larger modernization process in Kazakh environmental and resource protection policy, supported by the German organization IRZ and GIZ.
The system is a result of collaboration between the national hydrogeological service 'Kazgidrogeologia' and GIZ. It will enable data exchange between institutions and support informed decision-making. To learn from comparable digital systems, a study visit to Tashkent is planned for Kazakh specialists. This project strengthens cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan in the environmental sector.
Kazakhstan's introduction of 'Water Base' is a significant step towards sustainable management of its groundwater resources. This digital system will help address increasing climatic challenges and water scarcity in the country, while also fostering international cooperation.
