KDDI Partners with Oasys for Blockchain Integration in Gaming Sector

In a move set to revolutionize the blockchain gaming landscape, Oasys, a leading blockchain platform focused on gaming, has teamed up with KDDI, a prominent Japanese telecommunications company. This partnership underscores the significance of incorporating a Web3-style service into a blockchain that isn't tied to any specific online game.

The collaboration, announced following KDDI's launch of their metaverse and Web3 service called "αU (Alpha You)" in March, brings together two brands with a shared passion for blockchain and Web3 technology. KDDI's expertise in telecommunications provides a strong foundation for potential collaboration, while Oasys finds support in KDDI's experience in connecting traditional Web2 and emerging Web3 gaming.

KDDI's involvement in Oasys' HACKJAM hackathon in Tokyo from June to July this year demonstrates their ongoing commitment to the blockchain gaming platform. In an interview, Ryo Matsubara from Oasys and Shunpei Tatebayashi from KDDI discussed the partnership, emphasizing the importance of creating experiences using 5G communication and AR/MR technologies.

As part of their broader Web3 efforts, KDDI has become a network validator for Oasys. This integration opens up access to KDDI's extensive user base for developers building on Oasys. Users can now sell NFTs on Oasys through the "αU market" and manage their NFTs on Oasys using the "αU wallet." Additionally, users can transfer and store OAS tokens, the platform's native cryptocurrency.

Both brands are committed to working closely together to explore new opportunities in blockchain and Web3 technology. This move is expected to drive the widespread adoption of blockchain gaming to new levels of popularity, further strengthening both Oasys and KDDI's positions in the growing world of blockchain games and decentralized applications (dApps). Their ultimate goal is to create a world where anyone can be a creator.
