Live Debut of Shibarium Alpha Layer Testnet: Observe Crucial Performance Metrics

In a significant stride for the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, the Shib Alpha Layer, a Layer 3 system built on top of Shibarium's Layer 2 blockchain, has been launched. This innovative layer aims to enhance scalability, transaction throughput, and efficiency for the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

Key features of the Shib Alpha Layer include the Shib Alpha Layer Bridge, which connects Shibarium Layer 2 with Layer 3, allowing for smoother multi-layer interaction while maintaining separate, optimized roles for tokens in the ecosystem. A dual-token gas system has also been introduced, with BONE remaining the gas token for Shibarium Layer 2, while TREAT is assigned as the gas token for transactions within the Shib Alpha Layer.

The release of the Shib Alpha Layer Block Explorer provides native real-time visibility into all transactions and blocks on Layer 3, increasing transparency and monitoring capabilities.

Potential impacts on Shibarium's decentralized finance (DeFi) apps, games, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), and other services are promising. Enhanced scalability and throughput, lower transaction costs, improved user experience, expanded utility of ecosystem tokens, and improved transparency are all expected benefits.

With over 1.4 billion total transactions and 268 million or more addresses expected, the Shib Alpha Layer's integration represents a strategic step towards supporting next-generation decentralized applications and real-world use cases, potentially attracting more developers and institutional interest.

Currently, the Shib Alpha Layer is at a beta stage with active live deployments and infrastructural milestones accomplished, setting the stage for a more scalable and efficient Shiba Inu ecosystem. The Shib Alpha Layer testnet has processed over 1.4 billion transactions by the end of the third quarter of 2025, and over 2,320,139 blocks have been processed with an average processing time of two seconds.

The Shib Alpha Layer is designed to allow developers to create and deploy custom rollups on Shibarium with ease and speed, offering flexibility to customize the environment to meet specific project goals. Rollups created on the Shib Alpha Layer can support various uses, including DeFi apps, games, NFTs, and other services.

Excitement within the Shiba Inu community is high, with the update promising to improve the overall SHIB ecosystem. However, users are still advised to conduct their own research and contact financial experts before making any investment decisions, as stated previously.

As the Shib Alpha Layer moves closer to mainnet launch, the Shiba Inu ecosystem is poised for significant growth and innovation, offering exciting opportunities for developers, users, and investors alike.
