In the city of Erfurt, Thuringia, Germany, a 47-year-old man became a victim of a 'quishing' scam on Wednesday. The incident took place at a parking machine in the city centre.

The 'quishing' scam involves manipulated QR codes used to obtain personal data. In this case, the man scanned a QR code with his mobile phone, which directed him to a fraudulent website. Unaware of the danger, he entered his credit card details on the site.

Two unauthorized transactions totaling 440 euros were made from the man's account as a result of the scam. He realised he had been scammed upon checking his account and reported the incident to the Erfurt Police Headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.
