Glid Technologies Revolutionizes Freight Logistics with $3.1 Million Pre-Seed Funding
Glid Technologies, a pioneering company dedicated to improving freight logistics, has secured a pre-seed funding round of $3.1 million. Led by Outlander VC, the investment will primarily support the launch of GliderM, a manned hybrid-electric road-to-rail vehicle, planned for deployment in California and Washington by Q3 2025.
GliderM is designed to streamline container transport by moving 20-foot containers directly onto rail networks without the need for cranes, forklifts, or traditional terminal handling. This innovation aims to reduce costs and reliance on manual labor, while improving efficiency and reducing emissions.
The funding will also help expand Glid’s engineering team and strengthen partnerships with ports and rail operators to facilitate broader adoption of their dual-mode autonomous vehicles, called Gliders. These vehicles can operate seamlessly on both road and rail, addressing critical bottlenecks in container transport logistics, particularly in the first mile—transporting containers from ports to rail yards.
Glid's innovative approach integrates robotics, AI, and modular vehicle designs in their Mobility as a Service platform. The Gliders enable direct transport of standard containers onto rail networks without the need for additional handling equipment or drayage trucks, significantly improving logistics workflows. Their AI-powered logistics platform, EZRA-1SIX, supports real-time dispatch optimization for multimodal transport.
