Matt Bangser takes on the role of Senior Director at Art Intelligence Global
Matt Bangser Joins Art Intelligence Global as Senior Director
Matt Bangser, a seasoned art market professional with over two decades of experience, has joined Art Intelligence Global (AIG) as Senior Director, effective from September 8, 2025.
Bangser's extensive expertise stems from his 16-year tenure at BLUM gallery, where he managed global sales, secured important artist estates, and worked directly with notable artists like Mark Grotjahn and Henry Taylor. Before BLUM, Bangser held senior roles at Van de Weghe gallery and worked at major auction houses Phillips and Christie’s. He also served on the board of the Art Dealers Association of America from 2017 to 2020.
At Art Intelligence Global, a New York- and Hong Kong-based art advisory firm, Bangser’s role as senior director will leverage his broad experience across galleries, auction houses, and artist relations to provide valuable market insight and advisory services. AIG co-founder Amy Cappellazzo highlighted his market expertise and diverse background as especially valuable in the current art market environment.
Following the shutdown of Blum's galleries, Cappellazzo contacted Bangser, viewing his appointment as a rare opportunity that she did not want to pass up. Art Intelligence Global advises private clients, artists, estates, and institutions on acquisitions, sales, and long-term collection planning.
Bangser's appointment to AIG comes after the departure of Adam Chinn, one of the firm's founding partners, who now heads International Art Finance, a boutique art-lending company. With Bangser on board, AIG aims to further strengthen its advisory capabilities with his deep knowledge of gallery sales, artist collaborations, and art market dynamics.
The closure of Blum's galleries was not primarily due to market conditions, but rather a departure from the traditional gallery model, as announced by Tim Blum. Bangser's transition to AIG marks a new chapter in his career, where he will continue to contribute his expertise to the art industry.
