Mazda Donates 10 Plug-In Hybrids to Train German Firefighters
Mazda Motors Germany has donated ten pre-production plug-in hybrid models to the Leverkusen Fire Department. The vehicles, part of the 'zero series' and unregistered, will aid firefighters in training for accidents involving modern cars with high-voltage components.
Bernhard Kaplan, Managing Director of Mazda Motors Germany, handed over the vehicles to the fire department. The ten Mazda CX-60 models, part of a cooperation between Mazda and the Fire Department Leverkusen, will be used for initial training and further education of both professional and volunteer firefighters. Kaplan expressed his pleasure in supporting the fire department's training with these state-of-the-art vehicles.
Markus Schmidt, head of the Fire and Rescue Service School Leverkusen, welcomes the opportunity to train with the latest vehicle technology. The fire department will focus on safety aspects when handling high-voltage batteries during rescue operations. The donated vehicles will help firefighters prepare for realistic conditions they might face in modern vehicle accidents.
