In a significant move to improve digital infrastructure and boost tourism, telecommunications giant MegaFon has launched a new base station in the picturesque village of Okinino, Nizhny Novgorod region. The new base station, located on a high bank of the Volga, surrounded by forests rich in mushrooms and berries, will provide improved voice call reliability and mobile internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

Okinino, a popular settlement among dacha owners, is set to benefit from not only the enhanced connectivity but also from the ongoing ecological trail project. Several initial sections of the trail are already open to visitors, making it an attractive destination for nature lovers. The ecological trail project, supported by the Russian Geographical Society, aims to create the longest trail in Russia, spanning 4000 kilometers and passing through 15 regions of Russia.

Meanwhile, in the rural settlement of Dubrava in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district, another base station was launched, providing similar benefits to its population of over 1,500 people. The company responsible for the installation of the mobile phone mast in Dubrava remains unspecified.

According to Alexei Mikhailov, the director of MegaFon in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the new base station in Okinino contributes significantly to the development of tourism in the area.
