Mercedes showcases the efficiency of its new Electric Van Architecture on long-distance trips via VLE demonstration.

In a significant leap forward for electric vehicles (EVs), Mercedes-Benz has announced the introduction of two new luxury electric vans: the VLE and VLS, based on the brand-new Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA). These vehicles mark a new era for Mercedes-Benz's all-electric vans, combining refined design, advanced electric technology, and spacious interiors suitable for family or executive transport needs.

### Release Date

The VLE and VLS models are set to launch starting in 2026.

### Key Features

#### VAN.EA Platform

Both vehicles are built on the new modular and scalable VAN.EA platform, designed specifically for electric vans. This platform allows a clear differentiation between luxury-focused Grand Limousines and commercial vans.

#### Mercedes-Benz VLE

The Mercedes-Benz VLE is positioned as a mid-size luxury electric van, comparable in size and stature to the E-Class in the Mercedes lineup. It seats up to eight passengers, targeting families and exclusive VIP shuttle services.

Real-world tests, including a demanding route crossing the Alps and varied terrain, have validated the VLE's performance and reliability. A notable test drive from Stuttgart to Rome covered 1,090 kilometers, with just two brief charging stops, each lasting 15 minutes. This suggests a maximum range of around 250 to 300 miles per charge. The battery capacity has not been officially confirmed but could be up to 116 kWh, similar to other Mercedes EVs.

#### Mercedes-Benz VLS

The Mercedes-Benz VLS is positioned as a larger, ultra-luxury Grand Limousine model that will “define a unique segment of its own” and represent “true greatness in automotive luxury.” It is expected to go beyond the VLE in terms of space and luxury, targeting VIP and very high-end customers.

### Market Availability

Both VLE and VLS will be available in major markets including Canada, the USA, and China for the first time.

### Testing and Development

The VLE has undergone extensive real-world testing, including a demanding route crossing the Alps and varied terrain, to validate its performance and reliability. The platform and vehicles are developed with a focus on combining style, functionality, and usability for both family and VIP transport needs.
