Meta's Quest revives a notable Xbox 360 attribute, offering a contemporary update
Meta Quest users can now enjoy an immersive audio experience with the integration of Spotify, a popular music streaming platform. The new integration allows users to play music and podcasts seamlessly in VR, significantly enhancing the user experience.
The Spotify app, now available on the Meta Quest's app store, offers several key features. Users can access their saved music and playlists, create new playlists directly from the Quest headset, and manage their library without leaving VR.
One of the standout features is background play. Users can continue playing Spotify music or podcasts while engaging in other activities, such as gaming, browsing, or virtual painting. This feature provides an uninterrupted audio experience similar to classic Xbox 360 features.
The app also supports both audio and video podcasts, expanding the content options available in VR. Users can watch or listen to podcasts within the immersive environment. Additionally, interactive features like viewing track lyrics add deeper engagement with music.
The integration mimics the familiar Spotify experience users expect on phones or computers, making music and podcasts an integral part of the VR activities on Meta Quest. The app is accessible to both free and premium Spotify users, promoting inclusivity.
Meta announced the rollout of the Spotify app on Meta Quest headsets, marking a significant step forward in the quest for a more immersive VR experience. The company also introduced a feature called "Travel Mode" last year, intended to make Meta headsets the "ultimate in-flight entertainment device."
Gazing out the plane window in Travel Mode will not cause mixed reality screens to go haywire. In addition, Meta upgraded its algorithm while you're traveling in Travel Mode to keep everything stable.
The refinement of Quest Horizon UI includes giving users the ability to move windows to any spot while in mixed reality. This feature allows for a more flexible and customisable VR environment.
VR headset deals are available at various retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Meta, and Walmart.
