Minecraft YouTuber Creates AI Chatbot CraftGPT
Minecraft YouTuber sammyuri has created a unique chatbot within the game. Named CraftGPT, the AI can engage in basic conversations but has its limitations.
sammyuri, known for his Minecraft content, built CraftGPT using Python and redstone, a Minecraft material for creating circuits. The chatbot was trained on the TinyChat dataset and can run its own version of Minecraft.
CraftGPT's responses can take up to 10 years in vanilla Minecraft. Even with optimizations using the Minecraft High-Performance Redstone Server (MCHPRS), responses can still take around two hours. Sammyuri advises keeping expectations low for CraftGPT's performance.
Despite its slow speed, CraftGPT can engage in simple conversations. However, it's prone to off-topic responses, grammatical errors, and outputting gibberish. It has a context window of 64 tokens, limiting conversations to brief exchanges.
CraftGPT, a small language model with 5,087,280 parameters and a vocabulary of 1,920 tokens, occupies a massive physical space of 1,020 x 260 x 1,656 blocks in Minecraft. Viewing the entire build requires the Distant Horizons mod. While it's an impressive feat, CraftGPT's performance and capabilities are currently limited.
