MIT & MBZUAI Launch 5-Year AI Research Program

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) have joined forces to launch the MIT-MBZUAI Collaborative Research Program. The five-year agreement aims to advance artificial intelligence (AI) in various fields, with the support of key figures from both institutions.

The program, spearheaded by the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, will see each research project co-led by a principal investigator from each institution. These leaders will be selected by a joint steering committee. Eric Xing, president of MBZUAI, expressed excitement about the potential of this collaboration to push AI boundaries and ensure responsible breakthroughs.

Philip Isola, from MIT, and Le Song, from MBZUAI, have been appointed as academic directors to oversee the program on their respective campuses. The collaboration will fund multiple joint research projects each year, with findings openly publishable. The program's goals include advancing AI in scientific discovery, human thriving, and the health of the planet.

The MIT-MBZUAI Collaborative Research Program, launched with enthusiasm from both sides, promises to foster innovative AI research. With prominent figures like Eric Xing and academic directors Philip Isola and Le Song at the helm, the program aims to make significant strides in AI development over the next five years.
