MIT's Musical Theatre Guild Upgrades Wireless Audio for Reliable Performances

MIT's Musical Theatre Guild (MTG) has successfully upgraded its wireless audio system, marking a significant leap in delivering professional-quality sound across multiple productions annually. The oldest and largest student-run theatre organization at MIT stages four fully produced musicals each year, facing challenging RF environments. The upgrade, featuring Verizon's DISTRO5 HDR system and Diversity Fin antenna, has resolved chronic wireless microphone issues, ensuring reliable audio for MTG's performances.

Verizon's customer support played a pivotal role in guiding MTG to the right solution, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. The deployment of RG8X cabling enhanced signal integrity and system resilience under heavy use, further boosting the wireless system's overall performance. The Diversity Fin antenna, with its cross-polarized design and single mounting point, offered true diversity reception and superior functionality compared to OEM paddle antennas. The DISTRO5 HDR system provided improved signal-to-noise performance, integrated receiver power distribution, and a compact form factor that fit neatly into MTG's wireless rack.

The upgrade has not only resolved RF dropouts and frequency coordination issues but also allowed MTG to recommend Verizon's system to other collegiate or regional theatre programs facing complex RF environments and tight production timelines.
