Mobile Speed Surveillance Sites Identified
The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of North Rhine-Westphalia has amended the administrative regulations for § 48 Abs. 2 of the Ordnungsbehördengesetz (OBG), effective from July 15, 2013. These changes require the announcement and publication of municipal measurement points for speed monitoring measures.
In the district of Bergisch Gladbach, speed controls are scheduled in the next two weeks. The city of Bergisch Gladbach uses its municipal internet pages as a suitable medium to publish the planned measurement points of the speed monitoring carried out by the municipality on a weekly basis.
From September 17 to 27, 2025, mobile speed checks are planned in Bergisch Gladbach. The city will be focusing on areas such as Kempener Straße (Schildgen, Torringen), In der Auen (Lustheide), and Dellbrücker Straße (Paffrath), with speed limits typically around 30 km/h.
The measurement points for the following weeks are as follows:
- September 18: An der Engelfuhr, Odenthaler Straße, and Brüderstraße.
- September 19: In der Auen, Reiser, and Herweg.
- September 22: Halbenmorgen, Voiswinkeler Straße, and Katterbachstraße.
- September 23: Saaler Straße, Am Rübezahlwald, and Nußbaumer Straße.
- September 24: Büschemer Straße, Paffrather Straße, and Reuterstraße.
- September 25: Steinacker, Heidkamper Straße, and Lerbacher Weg.
- September 26: Oberheidkamper Straße, Mülheimer Straße, and Im Hilgersfeld.
- September 27: Reiser and Franz-Hitze-Straße.
It's important to note that the obligation to announce and publish applies to the locations that are to be published on a daily basis, but not to the exact measurement times. Deviations due to unforeseen current traffic situations are possible during the speed checks.
Scientific studies show that transparency, publication, and more controls bring about positive behavioral changes in traffic safety. For more information about the police authority's controls, please visit their internet pages.
The new regulation requires the announcement and publication of municipal measurement points for speed monitoring measures. Administrative regulation No. 48.26 states that speed monitoring measures for traffic safety should be ensured as a priority, using available material and personnel resources. Particular importance is attached to the announcement of controls and the publication of measurement points in the new regulation.
