MVD Warns of New Scam Targeting Russian Citizens via Fake Telegram Bot
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) has issued a warning about a new scam targeting Russian citizens. Impersonating university employees, scammers are exploiting the 'Gosuslugi portal' to dupe people into handing over their personal details and money. The scam operates through a fake Telegram bot, designed to resemble the official 'Gosuslugi portal'. The scammers, posing as Egor Lunev, Andrey Gavrilov, and Vitaly Orlov, claim to be 'digitizing archives' as a pretext to gain access to personal accounts. The MVD advises caution when interacting with unknown individuals on the internet. It urges citizens to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a government official before sharing personal information or making payments. The MVD warns that this scam is ongoing and encourages anyone who has fallen victim to report it to local law enforcement. By staying vigilant and cautious, citizens can protect themselves from such fraudulent activities.
