Nine Major European Banks to Launch MiCA-Compliant Euro Stablecoin in Late 2026

Nine leading European banks are set to launch a MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin in late 2026, reflecting growing institutional interest in digital currencies. Meanwhile, Circle, the company behind USDC stablecoin, has partnered with Germany's Deutsche Börse Group to integrate digital dollars into Europe's traditional financial system.

Circle's stablecoins, including USDC and EURC, will be listed for trading on 360T's digital exchange 3DX and through Crypto Finance, both owned by Deutsche Börse Group. This partnership could serve as a global template for stablecoin integration with traditional finance. Jeremy Allaire, Circle's founder and CEO, is involved in this project.

The partnership comes at a time when the European Systemic Risk Board has recommended banning 'multi-issuance' stablecoins, potentially affecting Circle's cross-border operations. However, Circle has a significant advantage as it became the first major global stablecoin issuer to comply with MiCA rules in July 2024, requiring full reserves backing and regular audits.

Clearstream, Deutsche Börse's post-trade business, will securely store digital assets, providing a regulated and trusted way for institutions to hold stablecoins. The partnership aims to reduce settlement risk and cut costs for banks and asset managers in Europe.

Nine major European banks are poised to launch a MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin, while Circle's partnership with Deutsche Börse Group brings digital dollars into Europe's traditional financial system. This collaboration, happening under MiCA regulation, could transform financial operations across the continent.
