Norton Motorcycles previews upcoming motorbike model, set for unveiling on November 4th
The motorcycle world is abuzz with excitement as Norton, the legendary British brand, gears up for a significant global re-introduction at the EICMA 2025 show in Milan, Italy on November 4, 2025. This comeback is the result of Norton's acquisition by TVS Motor Company.
At the heart of this comeback is the Norton Electra, a middleweight, parallel-twin motorcycle that is set to make its debut at the same event. The Electra is expected to feature a heavily reworked engine derived from the BMW F 450 GS platform, with a displacement of around 450cc. This engine has been customized by Norton for enhanced performance.
The Electra adopts a neo-retro roadster style, blending modern mechanics with vintage styling. It boasts a sculpted fuel tank, minimalist bodywork, and traditional spoke wheels, all of which contribute to its classic appeal.
Manufacturing for the Electra and other new Norton models will take place at TVS's Hosur facility in India. Initially, the Electra will be targeted towards the Indian market with global exports following. The Electra is positioned as a premium "halo product" intended to re-establish Norton’s brand prestige before introducing more accessible motorcycles globally.
In addition to the Electra, Norton is also expected to launch six new bikes within the next three years. These include the Norton Atlas 650, Norton Commando 961 Sport, Norton 500, Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer, and Norton Dominator. The company is tight-lipped about the prices for these upcoming models.
Norton is aiming to compete with Royal Enfield in the modern-classic segment. Interestingly, Norton has registered the 'Electra' nameplate, which is associated with the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 as a variant, suggesting a new range of motorcycles from Norton.
Furthermore, Norton has trademarked the 'Combat' nameplate in India, hinting at a new range of motorcycles. However, specific details about the Combat model are not yet available.
A teaser for the Electra's unveiling carries the message "Norton's resurgence! A new era begins." This suggests that this unveiling could be a significant step in Norton's comeback story.
TVS Motor is also working on a new 450 cc motorcycle platform, which is expected to be shared with BMW and Norton. The new platform strategy for Norton is likely to be the basis for the upcoming motorcycle models.
Stay tuned for more updates as Norton prepares to reveal more models soon, promising an exciting new chapter in the world of motorcycling.
