Nvidia Boosts AI Capabilities with $900M Enfabrica Acquisition
Nvidia, the world's leading GPU manufacturer, has bolstered its AI capabilities with a significant acquisition. The company has snapped up Enfabrica, the innovator behind technology that can connect over 100,000 GPUs, in a deal worth over $900 million. This move is set to enhance Nvidia's scalability and global expansion.
Enfabrica's groundbreaking technology allows for unprecedented GPU networking, enabling connections between more than 100,000 GPUs. This acquisition will significantly boost Nvidia's offerings, which currently power many of the world's data centers and AI 'factories'. Each of the latest Blackwell GPU stacks boasts 72 GPUs.
The deal sees Nvidia hiring Enfabrica's CEO and giving the company's team, led by Rochan Sankar, new roles within Nvidia's staff. Additionally, Nvidia has the option to license Enfabrica's hardware. This acquisition comes two years after Nvidia's initial investment in Enfabrica and follows a series of strategic moves by the company, including a $5 billion stake in Intel and a $700 million investment in a new UK data center with startup Nscale.
Nvidia's acquisition of Enfabrica underscores the company's commitment to driving AI innovation. By integrating Enfabrica's GPU networking technology, Nvidia strengthens its position in the AI market, mirroring other tech giants' efforts to poach top AI talent.
