South Korea's GS Caltex has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the customer fueling experience with its Energy Plus app. The app, launched in 2021, is a testament to GS Caltex's commitment to digital innovation.

One of the key features of the Energy Plus app is its integration with CarPlay and Android Auto. Introduced in 2025, this allows drivers to access essential functions of the app directly on their car's touchscreen. Functions such as station locator, Quick Refuel service, coupon access, and point balance checks make refueling more convenient and interactive without the need to handle the phone.

The app also offers a Quick Refuel and Shake & Pay feature. Quick Refuel lets users start fueling immediately through the app, while the Shake & Pay shortcut adds convenience by allowing users to initiate Quick Refuel by simply shaking their phone.

The updated home screen widget further streamlines the user experience. It enables users to launch Quick Refuel, view favourite stations, and compare fuel prices without opening the app.

GS Caltex also leverages real-time feedback via the app to rapidly respond with tangible benefits, contributing to high customer satisfaction. As a result, the company has maintained a No.1 ranking in the National Customer Satisfaction Index for gas stations for 17 consecutive years.

The app's intuitive design and technological advances have not gone unnoticed. In 2025, GS Caltex became the first oil refiner to win an industry honor at the Red Dot Design Award. The Energy Plus app was recognised in the categories of Apps and Interface & User Experience Design under the Brands & Communication Design segment. The app was evaluated based on criteria including creativity, innovation, design completeness, and emotional impact on users.

Vice President of GS Caltex's Mobility & Marketing Division, Kim Chang-soo, stated plans to improve the Energy Plus app for a seamless and intuitive service experience. With these advancements, it is clear that GS Caltex is committed to continuing to lead the way in digital customer service innovation among Korean refiners.
