OM System Unveils OM-D E-M1 Mark III ASTRO for Astrophotography
OM System has unveiled the OM-D E-M1 Mark III ASTRO, a camera tailored for astrophotography, priced at £1,899 in the UK and other European countries. The kit includes two special astro filters: a light pollution filter and a soft filter, priced at £259 and £179 separately.
The E-M1 III ASTRO is an adaptation of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III, featuring a 20MP sensor and 5-axis in-body image stabilisation. It comes with two custom modes (C1, C2) pre-setup for astrophotography and a multi-shot hi-res mode for higher resolution images. The camera is compatible with H α-ray capture and optimised for astrophotography, capturing vivid colours of celestial objects like red nebulae.
The camera body uses the Micro Four Thirds lens mount, compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses. It is weather-sealed and includes two body-mounted filters: a light pollution filter and a soft filter, compatible with ultra-wide-angle and fisheye lenses. However, it is not recommended for general photography due to its optimised IR cut filter for astrophotography.
The OM System OM-D E-M1 Mark III ASTRO Kit is available for £1,899, including the two special astro filters. The filters can also be purchased separately. The camera can only be bought from the OM System online shop, covering Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, UK, Ireland, Italy, and France. Astrophotographers can now capture stunning images of the night sky with this dedicated camera and filters.
