Reaper Actual, an upcoming open-world persistent online military first-person shooter developed by Distinct Possibility Studios, is creating a buzz in the gaming industry. The game, which supports up to 200 players simultaneously, offers a unique blend of Call of Duty-style gameplay and expansive open-world mechanics.

Set in a world that was hit by a brutal civil war, players drop into the game as "Reapers" from the world's intelligence services. The island of Marova, four times larger than Call of Duty: Warzone's Al Mazrah, is controlled by five AI-controlled factions that are constantly at war over territory.

Players can find and steal resources in the open-world to craft weapons or base defenses. These in-game items can be tradable not only on the Steam community marketplace but also via NFTs on an in-browser marketplace based on the Tezos layer-2 network Etherlink. This integration of blockchain technology is one of the game's distinctive features, although specific details about the NFTs or blockchain features have not been fully detailed.

John Smedley, a veteran game maker known for EverQuest, Planetside, and H1Z1, has launched a new studio called Distinct Possibility Studios. Smedley believes that Reaper Actual's model could bring in millions of players, based on the success of his previous games. However, he also believes in keeping crypto technology optional, meaning that bases will also be available through the Epic Games Store for players who prefer traditional platforms.

Reaper Actual's launch gives Smedley hope that the model will work, as players start to realize that there isn't much difference between the Steam marketplace and a crypto-fueled one, following the success of games like Off the Grid. Smedley projects that only 8% of the player base will start by trading on the crypto marketplace, but believes this figure will swell to 30% over two years.

The game also features a "phasing system" to prevent players in the same lobby with the same base from bumping into each other in-game. Players can be given missions to work for or against the five factions, encouraging conflict between players.

As for the game's release date, it has not been officially announced yet. However, the game is planned to be released primarily on Steam and Epic Games Store, though exact launch timing remains unconfirmed. For now, players interested in early access or testing can sign up on the official site.

In summary, Reaper Actual is an exciting new addition to the gaming world, combining traditional first-person shooter mechanics with blockchain technology. With its massive open-world, tactical gameplay, and optional crypto marketplace, it promises to offer a unique and engaging experience for players.
