Operational status now confirmed for upgraded splice system, aligned with PPWR technology.

In a move to optimize the splicing process in packaging and labelling, Jetter GmbH has introduced the JetConnect splicing system. This innovative technology is designed to meet the stringent requirements set by the EU packaging regulation, adopted in mid-February 2025.

The regulation, aimed at increasing recycling and reuse rates, mandates companies to adapt their design and material usage. High-volume but price-sensitive applications, such as food, confectionery, or household chemicals, are particularly crucial for overall business balance in the European Union.

The new JetConnect splicing process is designed to prevent packaging material waste during roll splicing, thereby eliminating costly downtime, material waste, and material contamination when connecting material webs. It is also designed to maintain material purity, a significant parameter to meet the targets set by the EU regulation.

The splicing head in the JetConnect system is developed and manufactured by b+b Automation and Control Technology. The system is designed to reliably prevent the use of non-separable or difficult-to-separate material mixtures, which are prohibited by the European Union regulation.

The JetConnect splicing system is also designed to reduce packaging weight and promote the use of monomaterials, another key parameter to reach the targets set by the regulation. The splicing process in the JetConnect system only uses monomaterials, and the JetConnect splicing tape is material-identical and can be used for various types of material rolls (paper, aluminum, plastic, etc.).

Failure to meet the requirements of the EU packaging regulation can lead to fines or plant closures. Therefore, the JetConnect splicing system is a significant step towards compliance, ensuring businesses stay operational and competitive in the European Union.
