Pixel Watch received July update for urgent bug fix, though limited to certain users
Pixel Watch owners in Japan and Singapore are finally getting their hands on the July 2025 update, which was previously missed by these regions. This update brings a host of improvements and new features to the cellular versions of Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3.
One of the most significant changes is the fix for emergency calling (ECC) on cellular models without an active cellular plan. Now, emergency calls can be made even when the watch is SIMless, as long as it is connected to a phone via Bluetooth tethering.
The update also incorporates all the features from the June 2025 update, including surface-specific favourites and faster public transit payments. With surface-specific favourites, users can set favourite home controls specific to their watch, allowing quick access to preferred smart home settings. Transit card payments on supported city transit systems now work more smoothly, allowing users to tap and pay even when the Google Wallet app is closed.
Another noteworthy addition is the June 2025 security patch, despite the update being released in July.
To manually trigger the July 2025 update, Pixel Watch users in Japan and Singapore should go to Settings → System → System updates. Keep tapping the "Your watch is up to date" screen until it starts downloading the update.
The next major Pixel Watch update is expected in September, with rumours suggesting it may incorporate a deeper dose of the Material 3 Expressive look.
