Plettenberg Resident Loses Thousands in Crypto Scam; Inn Robbed in Waskebieke
A 33-year-old resident of Plettenberg has fallen victim to a crypto investment scam, losing a substantial amount of money. Meanwhile, police are investigating a break-in at a local inn in the Waskebieke area, where cash was stolen.
The victim, a 33-year-old man from Plettenberg, responded to an advertisement on social media, hoping to invest in cryptocurrency concepts. He provided his contact details on a separate online platform and was then contacted by fraudsters posing as legitimate investment opportunities. They instructed him to transfer his money to their account, resulting in several thousand euros being lost. The identity of the suspected fraudsters remains unknown.
In a separate incident, unknown perpetrators broke into an inn in the Waskebieke area between 6-9 am on Saturday morning. They ransacked the interior, causing damage and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Criminal Investigation Department of Märkischer Kreis is currently investigating both the crypto scam and the inn break-in. They are appealing to the public for any information that could help in their inquiries.
