Pre-orders for the highly anticipated next-gen remake of the classic game, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, are now live across multiple platforms. Titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the game is set to release on August 28, 2025, with a 48-hour early access period for those who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition.
The remake promises an immersive stealth-action experience, featuring outdoor guerrilla warfare tactics, unique survival-based mechanics, and a refined battle damage system. Set during the Cold War in 1964, the main campaign story remains largely unchanged from the original.
The standard and tactical editions are available for pre-order at most retailers for $69.99 and $79.99 respectively. The Collector's Edition, priced at $199.99, includes a range of bonus items such as a Collector's Box, a Terrarium Diorama, Naked Snake's ID Card Lanyard, FOX and HALO Jump Patches, and a metal game case.
Pre-ordering any edition grants access to a White Tuxedo cosmetic outfit for Naked Snake. The Digital Deluxe Edition, in addition to the early access, also includes the Sneaking DLC Pack, which contains several cosmetic outfits and accessories for Naked Snake.
New features in the remake include side game modes featuring characters from the Ape Escape and Bomberman franchises, a competitive multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt, and a Secret Theater mode with unlockable vignettes. The game will also offer third-person and Legacy Style camera controls, as well as updated graphics rendered in Unreal Engine 5.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. However, it will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
The PlayStation 5 Day One Edition is listed at roughly $109 AUD on JB Hi-Fi, with specific pricing for Xbox Series X|S and PC editions yet to be announced.
