Xpeng Unveils the Redesigned P7 Electric Sports Sedan

On August 6, 2025, Xpeng officially debuted the second-generation P7 electric sports sedan in China, marking a significant leap in design, performance, and technology.

The new P7 rides on an 800-volt silicon carbide battery platform (SEPA 2.0), offering two powertrain options: a rear-wheel drive (RWD) with 270 kW (367 hp) and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) delivering 437 kW (595-586 hp). This upgrade enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration in about 3.7 seconds and a top speed capped at 230 km/h.

Key specifications include a sleek, aerodynamic body with a low drag coefficient of 0.201 Cd, measuring 5017 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, and 1427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3008 mm. Notable design elements include the Xmart Face styling with a star-ring light bar, distinctive vertical H-shaped LED lights at front and rear, blacked-out A-pillars for a floating roof effect, X-shaped wheels with logo lettering, and an active spoiler integrated with a one-piece tailgate featuring blue intelligent driving indicator lights.

Inside, the "Technology Island" dashboard centers around a 15.6-inch central screen capable of 3-axis movement (25° left/right and up/down), which responds to voice and gesture commands. The cabin also has a massive 87-inch Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD) powered by Huawei hardware combined with Xpeng software, capacitive touch controls on door panels for customizable functions, dynamic ambient lighting, and a sporty three-spoke steering wheel.

The new P7 integrates four main chips, including three in-house developed Turing AI chips and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P. Two Turing chips run the advanced driver assistance systems (including urban and highway Navigate on Pilot functions), while the third works with the Snapdragon to drive the vehicle’s intelligent cabin features.

Rear passengers enjoy an 8-inch entertainment screen behind the center console and seats angled at 30°, prioritizing comfort. Cargo volume starts at 22.3 ft³ and expands to 68.1 ft³ when rear seats are folded, supporting daily use.

The electric powertrain will be available in single and dual-motor configurations. The dual-motor AWD variant combines a 167 kW (224 hp) front motor with a 270 kW (367 hp) rear motor. The new P7 will be equipped with Xpeng's Turing AI chip, powering a vision-based driver assistance system that supports NGP functionality for both highway and urban environments.

Pricing details are yet to be officially announced but are expected to be competitive, targeted around RMB 300,000 (~$41,800). The new P7 will offer battery options of 74.9 kWh and 92.2 kWh, delivering CLTC ranges of 625km and 820km, respectively.

The new P7 features hidden door handles and frameless windows, adopting Xpeng's latest interior design language, featuring a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a large floating centre display. It also comes with dual wireless phone charging pads for front passengers and integrated sports seats.

The redesigned Xpeng P7 electric sports sedan will redefine the electric sports sedan segment for 2025, combining advanced aerodynamics, powerful dual-motor drivetrains, cutting-edge AI and digital cockpit tech, fast charging, and premium chassis tuning.

In other Xpeng news, the cumulative deliveries of the Xpeng Mona M03 reached 150,000 units in 10 months, and the new P7's design is inspired by cyberpunk aesthetics.
