Ransomware Group 'Radiant' Targets Children's Daycare, Sparks Outrage
A new ransomware group, Radiant, has sparked outrage by targeting a children's daycare network, Kido International. The group initially published personal data of children and their families, but later removed it under pressure from other cybercriminals.
Radiant Group first emerged in late September, making Kido International its first known victim. The group claimed to have information on over 8,000 children, along with their families, teachers, and staff. It posted pictures, addresses, and other personal data of 10 children, causing distress to their parents who received threatening calls.
The well-established Nova gang, operating through the Russian Anonymous Market Place, condemned Radiant's actions. London's Metropolitan Police are now investigating the case. Kido International is working to confirm that Radiant has indeed deleted the data.
The Radiant Group's targeting of a children's daycare network has been widely condemned. While the group initially threatened to expose more data if a ransom wasn't paid, it later removed the posted information under pressure from other ransomware groups. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
