Relieving Financial Burdens: MoSA Settles Debts for Over 1,100 Individuals; Hundreds Informed of Debt Resolution via Sahel App
Kuwait's Debt Relief Program Makes Progress
Kuwait's Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) and the Sharia committees have made significant strides in the debt relief program, providing financial relief to vulnerable Kuwaiti citizens. As of early August 2025, over 1,100 citizens have had their debts cleared, with hundreds more notified via the Sahel App [1].
This initiative, aimed at easing financial burdens, has seen the Ministry of Social Affairs approve the first and second installments of debts for these citizens. The debts range between 5,000 and 10,000 dinars [2].
The committees, consisting of representatives from several ministries and organizations, maintain transparency and strict controls to ensure funds reach the rightful beneficiaries. They are examining applicant files to ensure they meet key criteria, such as Kuwaiti nationality, no prior benefits, enforceable debts, and existing enforcement files with the Ministry of Justice [3].
The Supreme Committee, in coordination with relevant agencies, has submitted the eligible names to the Implementation Department to complete repayment processes [4]. The charter enforces disciplinary measures to uphold integrity, ensure equitable fund distribution, and prevent misuse or duplication [6].
Dr. Al-Ajmi is closely overseeing the committees' work to expedite their tasks [7]. Members of the committees adhere to a strict code of ethics, signing legal pledges to avoid conflicts of interest, protect confidential information, and report any violations [8].
Many have praised the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the six Sharia committees responsible for reviewing and verifying eligibility for debt relief [9]. The campaign's progress can be followed on various social media platforms [10].
As the program continues, it is being expanded to cover more eligible cases within available resources. The current review is examining 9,112 applications, with the committees aiming to determine the exact number of eligible applicants [11]. This marks a significant milestone in a humanitarian campaign aimed at easing financial burdens on vulnerable groups.
