Renault, Dacia Warn UK Customers of Cyber Breach

Renault and Dacia have warned UK customers about a cybersecurity attack on a third-party data provider. The incident, which did not compromise financial data, has raised concerns about personal information being accessed. Renault has apologized and assured customers that their own systems remain secure.

The breach, involving Accenture, a third-party data provider, may have exposed personal details such as names, addresses, dates of birth, and vehicle identification numbers. Affected individuals include car owners and those who shared personal data with the brands without purchasing a vehicle. Renault is contacting those affected and advising caution against unsolicited information requests.

This incident is part of a wider trend of cyber attacks against UK and global businesses. Other notable victims this year include Jaguar Land Rover, Asahi, Marks & Spencer, and Kido Schools. Renault has confirmed that none of its own systems were infiltrated, and the breach has been contained.

Renault and Dacia have not disclosed the number of affected customers due to security reasons. The companies have apologized and reassured customers that financial data was not compromised. As cyber attacks continue to pose a threat, customers are advised to remain vigilant and cautious with their personal information.
