Ripple's XRP Digital Layer Witnesses 70 Million Transactions in July, Showcasing Blockchain's Durability

The XRP Ledger (XRPL), a blockchain platform that is 13 years old, has shown remarkable resilience and competitive performance in 2025. The ledger, home to the native token XRP, has experienced significant growth and robust activity across multiple key metrics.

In July 2025 alone, the XRPL processed over 70 million transactions, with a year-to-date total nearing 3.83 billion transactions. This growth is noteworthy, as the ledger has surpassed 1 million new users this year, averaging more than 3,000 new wallet creations daily. As of early August, active accounts on XRPL have reached about 7 million total, with around 1,956 accounts created and 75 deleted on August 1, indicating continuous daily growth and churn.

One of the key drivers of XRPL's growth is the increasing demand for stablecoins. Brazil's BBRL, a stablecoin pegged to the Brazilian Real and running on XRPL, had over $4.2 million worth of new tokens issued in July 2025. This makes BBRL the second-largest fiat-pegged asset on the ledger after BRZ on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains. Another notable stablecoin on XRPL is RLUSD, a US dollar-backed stablecoin launched by Ripple in late 2024. RLUSD has more than doubled its daily transfers from 5,000 to over 12,000 in the past month, supported by cash reserves held by a regulated subsidiary.

XRPL's interoperability is also strengthening. More than $165 million has been transferred via Axelar bridges to Ethereum-compatible networks, and XRPL launched a new EVM-compatible sidechain in late June 2025. This sidechain already hosts over 1,400 smart contracts, providing a familiar environment for Ethereum developers while benefiting from XRPL’s speed and low fees.

Technical improvements, including the rippled 1.5.0 update in 2025, have enhanced network efficiency and scalability, underpinning this growth trajectory. Ripple's CTO David Schwartz has highlighted these developments as key to increased adoption and reliable transaction processing.

Ripple is also expanding the RLUSD market to Europe, which could contribute to further growth in the stablecoin's daily transactions. As of August 2025, XRPL shows vibrant user growth, substantial transaction volumes, rising stablecoin usage, and expanding cross-chain integration, reflecting its maturation as a scalable and versatile blockchain ecosystem.
