Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Rumors Roundup: Latest Speculation on the Upcoming Budget-Friendly Flagship
The anticipated Galaxy S25 FE smartphone from Samsung appears to be on the horizon, following rumors that the tech giant is extending its flagship lineup. The device is slated to become the latest product in Samsung's series of lower-cost, feature-rich mobile offerings.
Although the Galaxy S25 Edge could have been perceived as the capstone for Samsung's releases in 2025, the surfacing of Galaxy S25 FE speculation suggests otherwise. The South Korean manufacturer appears keen on catering to cost-conscious customers seeking premium features.
In fact, the Galaxy S25 FE has demonstrated potential to be a preferred option among Samsung's lineup in the past. In 2024, my colleague John Velasco argued that the Galaxy S24 FE stood out as the superior buy compared to the regular Galaxy S24, offering nearly identical features at a more affordable price.
With the Galaxy S25 FE, Samsung seems poised to replicate such success. So far, rumors indicate that the phone will share many features with its predecessor, fostering hopes of another successful offering.
Here's what we currently know about the Galaxy S25 FE ahead of its potential autumn 2025 release.
Galaxy S25 FE: Potential Release Date and Price
Samsung's track record for the release of its Fan Edition (FE) models has been somewhat inconsistent, with the Galaxy S21 FE having landed just a month before the S22 series in 2022. However, a more predictable schedule emerged following the launch of the Galaxy S24 FE in October 2024, about nine months after the debut of the rest of the Galaxy S24 lineup.
Based on these patterns, a fall 2025 launch for the Galaxy S25 FE seems plausible. As for the price, no definitive rumors regarding Samsung's intentions have yet emerged. Given the Galaxy S24 FE's price point of $649—a $50 increase compared to the S23 FE—it's reasonable to assume that Samsung may try to replicate this pricing strategy for the S25 FE.
Galaxy S25 FE: Design and Display
Early whispers about the Galaxy S25 FE's design suggest that Samsung could be aiming for a slimmer phone, possibly making it more compact than the 8mm thick Galaxy S24 FE. While this might bring the device closer in line with the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, it's unlikely that it would rival the latter's 5.8mm thickness.
Regardless of its exact dimensions, it is thought that the Galaxy S25 FE will preserve its predecessor's larger display, following the trend of a 6.7-inch panel set by the S24 FE. The current FE model also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, a feature that is expected to carry over to the Galaxy S25 FE's screen.
Galaxy S25 FE: Camera Speculations
The rumor mill suggests that the Galaxy S25 FE will utilize the same camera setup as the S24 FE. This is expected to include a 50MP main lens, an 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens. The telephoto lens' resolution may differ from that of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, but its 3x optical zoom should still remain consistent with those models.
Reportedly, the Galaxy S25 FE's front camera could receive a slight boost to 12MP, up from the 10MP selfie cam found on the S24 FE.
Galaxy S25 FE: Performance and Battery
Details about the system on a chip that the Galaxy S25 FE might be using remain shrouded in uncertainty, but initial rumors hinted at a possible reuse of the Exynos 2400e chipset—the same one found in the S24 FE—which may not offer the best performance compared to contemporary chipsets like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
More recent whispers, however, suggest that Samsung may consider incorporating the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 if it cannot produce enough Exynos chips to meet the S25 FE's demand.
In early May, leaked benchmarks indicated a potential shift toward the Exynos 2400 for the Galaxy S25 FE, which represents a moderate improvement compared to its predecessor, but might still trail behind flagship models in terms of performance and efficiency.
As for battery life, the 4,700 mAh battery used in the S24 FE has so far been hinted at for the S25 FE. The S24 FE performed exceptionally well in battery tests, with a 11.5-hour runtime, making it more power-efficient than many competitors. If the rumored thinner design materializes, however, battery life could potentially suffer.
Galaxy S25 FE: Software and AI
Upon its release, the Galaxy S25 FE is likely to run on the latest version of Android, with Samsung's One UI 8 expected to debut in the summer. Samsung has been consistently improving its AI capabilities, so it's reasonable to assume that the Galaxy S25 FE could adopt the AI features introduced alongside the S25 series launch in January.
Like its high-end counterparts, the Galaxy S24 FE offers seven years of software and security updates. It's anticipated that the Galaxy S25 FE will receive a similar level of support.
Galaxy S25 FE: Prospects
Much remains to be revealed about the Galaxy S25 FE in the coming months. Yet, hints and speculations thus far indicate a device designed to follow the trend of its predecessors, emphasizing affordability and offering a selection of flagship features.
The Galaxy S25 FE's appeal is expected to lie in its competitive price, reduced in comparison with the other S25 models, while still providing access to Galaxy AI capabilities. However, it remains to be seen exactly how Samsung will differentiate this model within their 2025 lineup, ensuring it stands out among the brand's increasingly crowded offerings.
- With the anticipated release of the Galaxy S25 FE, Samsung continues to expand its smartphone lineup, offering cost-conscious customers a chance to own premium gadgets at affordable prices, much like the Galaxy S24 FE did in 2024.
- In the tech market saturated with flagship devices, the Galaxy S25 FE is poised to stand out for its balance of technology, smartphone capabilities, and cost efficiency, appealing to those who seek to leverage innovative features without breaking the bank.
