Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 versus Galaxy Z Flip 5: Progressive Enhancements Compared

In a recent announcement, Samsung unveiled the latest addition to its line of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This new device promises significant improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, in terms of design, display, hardware, specs, battery, and camera.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 boasts a thinner and lighter design, measuring just 6.5mm thick when shut, compared to the 6.9mm of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It weighs 188 grams, slightly more than the 187 grams of its predecessor. The crease on the folding screen is significantly less noticeable, making for a smoother user experience.

The cover screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is larger and edge-to-edge, with a resolution of 948 x 1048 and a refresh rate of 60/120Hz. This display uses the entire area around the cameras, unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover screen which has a smaller, dimmer screen with a lower resolution and refresh rate.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is powered by the Samsung Exynos 2500 chip, a more powerful and efficient processor compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The device comes with 12GB RAM as standard, a significant upgrade from the Galaxy Z Flip 5's 8GB.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7's main display is a 6.9-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 2520 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 1-120Hz, offering a brighter and sharper visual experience. The camera system has also seen improvements, with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP front camera. These cameras promise improved low-light performance, more detailed and natural photos.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7's battery capacity has been increased to 4300 mAh, and it supports 25W wired charging. The device will launch with One UI 8, based on Android 16, and Samsung has promised up to 7 major OS upgrades.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 also features an Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coverings, and a redesigned FlexHinge, making it more durable compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The phone has an IP48 certification against dust and water ingress, ensuring it can withstand everyday use.

In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a thicker body, smaller and dimmer cover screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, lower resolution main camera, and lower RAM base. However, it supports multiple storage configurations, offering more options to users.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is set to redefine the foldable smartphone market with its sleek design, powerful hardware, and improved camera system. With its larger, brighter cover screen and longer software support, it promises to offer a more seamless and enjoyable user experience.
