Samsung's innovative premium TV model showcases cutting-edge panel technology, which potentially surpasses OLED, albeit with a hefty price tag attached.

Samsung has unveiled its latest innovation in TV technology with the launch of the Micro RGB Mini LED TV. This groundbreaking device significantly outperforms traditional backlit TV technologies in colour accuracy, contrast, and immersive viewing, thanks to its innovative backlight design and AI processing.

The Micro RGB TV utilises individually controlled red, green, and blue micro LEDs, each smaller than 100 micrometres. This ultra-precise lighting control enables features such as the Micro RGB Precision Colour system, which claims 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut, a leading international standard.

One of the key advantages of the Micro RGB TV is its exceptional colour accuracy. The TV can reproduce colours with remarkable vividness, surpassing many existing LED- and Mini-LED-based TVs. The Micro RGB AI engine, powered by artificial intelligence, optimises picture and sound for a more lifelike and immersive viewing experience.

The Micro RGB TV also boasts superior contrast. The micro-sized RGB LEDs allow for finer local dimming zones and precise brightness control, delivering deeper blacks and brighter highlights. This results in higher contrast ratios and more nuanced images than conventional backlit TVs, including those with Mini-LED technology.

Immersive viewing is further enhanced by Samsung’s Micro RGB AI engine, which analyses and optimises each frame in real time. It can intelligently enhance dull color tones and reduce image distortion, offering a more lifelike and immersive viewing experience. The TV also includes HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming certifications to improve dynamic range and HDR performance.

Samsung’s Micro RGB technology represents a next-generation evolution in TV technology. Compared to traditional Mini-LED TVs, the granular control over red, green, and blue LEDs produces superior colour precision, higher contrast, and better handling of reflections (Glare Free technology). This sets a new benchmark for premium TVs.

The first Micro RGB TV will have a screen size of 115 inches and is currently available only in South Korea, with a US launch expected soon. A global rollout is planned, and more sizes will become available over time. Other companies, such as Sony, Hisense, and TCL, also have their own Micro RGB TV models in development.

Priced at 44.9 million Korean Won, equivalent to around £24,000 / £32,000 / AU$50,000, the Micro RGB TV runs on Tizen OS and includes features such as the Micro RGB Precision Colour system, Glare Free technology, Vision AI suite with AI-backed picture and sound modes, as well as Generative Wallpaper and AI Auto Game Mode.

In a competitive market, Samsung's Micro RGB Mini LED TV stands out as a significant leap forward in large-screen premium display technology, offering unparalleled colour fidelity, contrast control, and immersive picture quality.
